Ronnie soon joined Trevor Nelson at the MTV Lick parties in Ayia Napa, Leeds and on the Radio 1 Stage at Notting Hill Carnival. Simultaneously he was co-founder of Uptown Records in Soho, working in the midst of new music. All this culminated in Ronnie being voted Best Club DJ by the readers of Blues & Soul in 2000.
Perhaps even more significantly, he had caught the eye of the BBC who were
in the process of putting together an exciting new radio station that was to
become 1Xtra BBC. Ronnie was one of their first signings and his show Uptown Anthems is now in its 5th year. It has become a must listen for those in the music industry and has impressed both listening audiences and critics alike.
Ronnie truly loves playing his mix of music to a national audience and is
one of the most listened to DJs via the Radio 1 and 1Xtra websites.
Recently, he has also deputized on the Radio 1 Friday early Breakfast and is
first choice to stand in for Trevor Nelson when he’s away.
It’s no wonder that Ronnie has been nominated at this years MOBO Awards in the category of Best DJ.
